"Dot" :
This stands for "Department of Transport", which is full
USA standard equal to European Standards (Manufacturer's claim).
However, this 'standard' is not a recognised classification in the
UK. All DoT helmets sold will be deemed for use "off-road"
or at rallies and shows.
"Novelty" :
These helmets offer no safety protection.
All "Novelty" helmets sold will be deemed for use "off-road"
or at rallies and shows.

By law, you must wear a safety helmet when riding a motorcycle on
the road. All helmets sold in the UK must either:
1. Comply with BS6658:1985 and carry the BSI Kitemark,
2. Comply with UNECE Reg.2205
3. Comply with any standard accepted by a member of the EU which
offers a level of safety and protection equivalent to BS6658:1985
and carry a mark equivalent to the BSI Kitemark.
N.B.The Kitemark,
in the majority of cases, has been replaced by UNECE Reg. 2205.
